DANIAL ARIFFIN AZMAN (born Singapore, 1991) is a composer, arranger, pianist, producer and an educator. He holds a Diploma in Sonic Arts under the School of Technology for the Arts from Republic Polytechnic in 2013 and graduated from LASALLE College of the Arts with a First-Class Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Music Composition and Arranging in 2019.
Danial was awarded the Goh Chok Tong Youth Promise Award (Merit) by MENDAKI Singapore in recognition of his talents and his potential to excel in the discipline of music in 2013.
He was a former member of the Orkestra Melayu Singapura (OMS).
The Audio Image Wind Ensemble (Singapore) and MARA University of Technology Wind Orchestra (UiTM) (Malaysia) has premiered his first wind band composition titled “Enigma” in 2011 and 2014 respectively. Singapore Wind Symphony recently played Danial’s revised version of Enigma for their South Korea Tour 2016.
Danial was the youngest composer to be commissioned by the Singapore Wind Symphony to arrange “We Will Get There” NDP 2002 Theme Song as part of the Songs of Singapore Project in 2012 and Dick Lee’s “Beauty World Medley” for “Singapore! A Musical Celebration II” in 2013. It was premiered at the Esplanade Concert Hall in July consecutively.
Other than working with wind bands and orchestral music, he was commissioned to arrange music for Chinese Orchestra as well.
Danial also arranges music for Mediacorp’s Suria Malay dramas theme soundtracks. He was appointed as one of the music arrangers for Mediacorp’s Suria singing competition program Juara Mic Junior (2018) and Anugerah since then.
Danial works as the music director for Wadah Seni Entertainment’s shows such as Silver Arts 2019 “Sukma Irama Layar Perak” (Soulful Silver Screen Melodies) concert, Keroncong Asmara and Muzik Kita organised by Wisma Geylang Serai (WGS).
Danial was invited as a composer, arranger, performer and conductor for Rentas as part of Gemadah – Traditional Malay Music Festival organised by the Traditional Malay Music Consortium in collaboration with Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay.
Currently, Danial is a part-time educator and a freelance composer, arranger, pianist and producer.
